Thanksgiving Weekend!

Well hello everyone.... I hope you all have survived the big turkey dinner and are thankful for yet another year coming to an end. Brian and I had a wonderful time. We spent it in VA Beach with his whole extended Johnson Family. I haven't been with the whole Johnson Crew since our wedding two and a half years ago! It was quite the event. Brian's Mom usually does the Thanksgiving meal, but this year his Aunt had the honors. She had flown in for the week from CA and rented a huge Beach house where we had dinner and played for the weekend. It included a hot tub, canoe on the river in the backyard, beach bikes, and of course the ocean! His Aunt Donna cooked all day in the limited kitchen and we all got to hang out and catch up. Of course, it will be a Thanksgiving to remember! As dinner was nearing Brian's Mom leaned over to stir gravy and noticed in the oven"Oh there's a fire" very calmly. Next we knew they pulled all of the food out of the oven and were attempting to put it out. Poor Aunt Donna cried and we all just tried not to laugh. (not at her of course, but at the situation) It was a moment to remember as the beach house filled with smoke and the noise of the fire alarm. After discussing our options of putting out the fire and saving the food Brian's Uncle threw some baking soda on the fire and it wasn't more than ten minutes before it was out! In despite of it all the food was still great and all 19 of the Johnson's were throughly happy!
We arrived back to FL today and are headed back to work for the week and concentraitng on all the events that come along with the Christmas season, that is in full session here. The church Christmas production I am directing, work Christmas parties, visits from friends on break, and then Christmas Eve we will head to Dublin, GA to be with my family of 9. I hope you all, too are enjoying your holidays to come.... May you be truly blessed and not rushed as you enjoy the day to day moments of life during this season! God Bless!

Redecorating...

So Brian and I got creative this week. We have been wanting to paint our apartment for a little while now. Even done some small redecorating here and their, mostly in the bedroom. This weekend we decided that if we were going to paint the living room we needed to do it before Christmas, as once decorations went up there would be too much to work around. In no time at all Brian and I found something we are both very bad at...painting! We choose melting butter aka light yellow, to open up the room. He started on the trim work & I started on the rolling and we kept waiting for it to look right. Nope it just looked like someone was trying to melt better in the microwave and it exploded all over the walls of the microwave! Streaky, speckled, and just down right awful. We called the Dad (Johnson) and asked for advice. 5 hours and 37 minutes later we are still at it. Actually I went to work and Brian stayed at it, he just ran out of paint with only one small corner left and is headed to Home Depot. What a mess! The conclusion we came to was that we were rolling it on way too thin. I am use to the High School drama club paint budget and was trying to stretch it to .... needless to say we got a mixture of yellow butter popcorn. Once he finished tonight, the furniture will go back and we won't touch it until after Christmas. Crazy paint whim!
